Acorn
Cottage is situated on Harmony Farm
about 9 km outside Dullstroom on the R450 towards
Lydenburg. It is very close to the "White
Rock" that marks the highest point on the
South African railway line. While offering peace
and tranquility of a farm setting with the classic
Dullstroom views of rolling hills and dams,
the Acorn Cottage is easily accessible only
a few hundred meters from the main road.
The
fully carpeted cottage nestles amongst beautiful
old oak trees and consists of two bedrooms,
one with a queen size bed and the other with
two single beds. The bathroom has a shower unit
as well as a bath. There is an open plan kitchen,
sitting and dining area with lovely fireplace
(wood provided) - perfect for those misty Dullstroom
evenings. The verandah has a build-in braai
and outside tables and chairs which is ideal
for relaxing at the end of the day.
All
linen, including duvets and towels is provided.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave,
fridge/freezer, electric stove, and all the
necessary crockery, glasses and utensils. A
hairdryer is also provided.
A
CD player is available and books, games and
magazines are there for your entertainment.
There are two TV sets in the restaurant nearby,
should you be a sporting fan.
Water
comes straight out of a spring and, apart form
being the best you will ever taste, is also
pristine.
Your
friendly staff member, Emily, will service the
cottage every day at no extra cost. She is also
willing to do bits of washing you may need,
or babysitting so please liaise directly with
her and arrange compensation accordingly.
There
are many activities within walking distance:
- Day
fishing opportunities across the road is
available for R50.00 per day and fishing
tackle can also be hired.
- Dullstroom
Riding Centre offers led pony rides for
children around the Centre and one or two
hour trials through spectacular scenery
on the farm.
- The
Screeching Macaw Bird Park and Old MacDonald's
Touch Farm are nearby but far enough that
you need not know about it.
- There
are also shops in the Owl and Oak Trading
Post to keep the ladies busy.
- The
Grillers in the Mist Restaurant, Pub &
Tea Garden, just a few hundred meters away,
can take care of all your catering needs
if desired. Both breakfasts and lunches
are offered.
